"The Bike Repairman" is Philippe Eugusyene's culminating Master's project at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague - a groundbreaking jazz-operatic monodrama exploring queer identity, repression, and the contradictions of modern love through the poetic lens of a solitary mechanic. This self-created work (libretto, composition, and direction by Philippe) synthesizes his NAIP program research, blending physical theater, improvisation, and his dual training in classical/jazz vocals to challenge gender norms. A bold artistic statement that bridges academic excellence and activist performance.
